Are you serious about taking the next step in your walk with God and looking for tools that will help you grow? It can be overwhelming to see all the options on Amazon or Christian book websites, especially when you know that so much that’s available today is just fluff. So I’ve chosen 20 of my favorite books and tools that have really pushed me along in my spiritual walk.
Someday I hope some day to do in-depth reviews of many of the resources below, but suffice it to say that all the books are meaty and truly helpful. Many I have gone to again and again over the years, finding new help for whatever stage of life and motherhood I’m in at the time. Hope they are helpful to you!
Bible Study Tools
- Wide-Margin or Interleaf Bible: The one I have is no longer available, but if you want a KJV Bible with huge margins for journaling, you might try the Journal the Word Bible (hardback) or the Notetaking Bible (bonded leather) or one of the wide-margin or interleaved Bibles from Church Bible Publishers (they make higher quality Bibles, including a variety of cover options).
- Notebooks: Composition books or blank journals—pretty ones are often available at discount stores like Ross.
- Sakura Micron Pens: Great for making notes in your Bible with minimal bleed-through.
- Pentel Multi-Pencil: I’ve had mine for about 20 years and still love using it to highlight different categories in my Bible.
- blueletterbible.com: Many helpful (and free) Bible dictionaries, commentaries, cross-references, and other helps.

Thanks for sharing your list, Kristin. I second Morning and Evening and Stepping Heavenward. 🙂 One that helped me a lot years ago is On the Other Side of the Garden by Virginia Fugate.
Thanks for sharing!! I loved Teaching from Rest by Sarah Mackenzie 🙂
