Intro

What do a Hawaiian church potluck and reading to our families each week have in common? That’s what we discuss on this episode of Treasure Box Audiobooks podcast! Aloha and e komo mai!

Books

Lord’s Day

📖  New City Catechism, by Timothy Keller (we use this as a guide, but having some doctrinal differences, I adjust its content to reflect my understanding of scriptural teaching as I use it to teach my family)
📖 The Power of Christ’s Prayer Life, by Charles H. Spurgeon
📖 The Attributes of God, by A.W. Tozer

Monday (Biography)

📖  From This Verse, by Robert Morgan
📖 God of the Aurora, by Bruce Hamilton (finished since recording this episode, now reading another missionary biography)
📖 The Cruelest Miles, by Salisbury and Salisbury (finished since recording this episode)

Tuesday (Nature Lore)

📖 Indescribable, by Louis Giglio
📖 Did Adam Have a Bellybutton? by Ken Ham
📖 New City Catechism by Timothy Keller

Wednesday (Audio Drama)

Listen to an audio drama on ride home from church. We usually listen to an episode of the Brinkman Family Adventures. They release a new episode each Wednesday, available on OnePlace.com.

Thursday (Family)

📖 Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends, by the Mally family

Friday (Mom and Dad’s Date Night)

Although we often don’t read a book on Friday nights, we still gather to pray together before bedtime.

Saturday

📖 Amazing Grace: 365 Inspiring Hymn Stories for Daily Devotions, by Kenneth W. Osbeck
📖 Fun with Bible Quizzes, by J. Vernon Jacobs

Quotes

“If the crowns of all the kingdoms of Europe were laid down at my feet in exchange for my books and my love of reading, I would spurn them all.” – Francois Fenelon

  1. This is just what I needed! Great list of books and a great schedule/plan- I love how intentional and thought out this is to, to introduce “higher” levels of reading to even younger kiddos. I have experienced this myself as we participate in classical conversations in the US and my 3 kids are 9th grade, 6th grade, and 3rd grade but I have read aloud many of my eldest suggested reading books to the joy of all! I love the idea of reading even Tozer and Spurgeon aloud to younger kids as well. Thanks!
